I havent updated this blog in a while, but I have promised myself that I will try and do so on a more regular basis.
There was a lot of personal stuff to deal with in 2023/24, which prevented me from finishing many projects, and has delayed my publishing schedule a lot. But it didnt stop me from writing, albeit not as much churn as I would have hoped.
One good thing that happened to our family was Agnetha (Aggie/Ag/Stinky/Bean) arriving. Aggie is an English Springer. She is now also a creative consultant and sits at my feet under the table as I type. She’s two now, a ball of uncontrolled energy, but a joy in our lives. She will pop up in a future book.

As well as the Legacy series, I have written two horror novellas which I hope to get out on the next two Halloweens. I am currently planning a crime novel (but under a psuedonym – as I dont want to contaminate with Legacy, which is mainly police procedural, and vice versa), and my first full fantasy book.
The biggest writing event of the last two years was the publication of the second book in the Legacy of The Magpie Series, The Ghostly Menagerie. Ghostly is a direct link between The Secret Magpie and The Raven’s Message, and describes this bonkers universe to Maisie Price (Detective Inspector) who is tring to cope with solving crime, whilst seeing ghosts and having an immortal boyfriend. The art work was specially commisioned from Rupam Grimoeuvre https://grimoeuvre.com/ and I must note it isnt AI.
Second biggest writing event of note in the last couple of years, was the publication of my 10,000 word story Designer Death in UNIT: Operation Fall-Out. This was my first officially licesnsed foray into the Whoniverse. Hopefully, not my last.
Changes to socials. I have currently come off Facebook, but plan to put a Legacy page back up very soon. I am still on Twitter (@gjm2602) – but only for professional (writing) links. I am available on Blue Sky (@garyjmack.bsky.social) , Threads and Instagram (@garyjmackauthor) too.
